You know those stories about people who always knew exactly what they wanted to do and followed all the right paths to get there? This ain’t it.

Hi! I’m Alex (or Al). Lead designer and owner of Little Blue Design House. I have been working in the construction industry for over 14 years but… not exactly in the way you think. I started off my journey in this industry as a summer employee in landscape construction after quitting the world of modeling. That world was, to keep it short, not for me. I knew I needed a complete 180 from what I was doing but had no idea what that would mean. That summer job seemed like a great start to fill the space while I figured it out. Within 3 years I had gone from the lanky girl with zero skills who could barely hold a shovel, to a foreman running my own crew and buying an F150 at 21 years old. I absolutely loved demolishing, constructing and planting. As much as I absolutely loved working on site, I fell even more in love with the planning and design. I returned to school to complete a Certificate in Landscape Design from Ryerson University in 2016 and immediately started designing landscapes for clients. It was tough to say goodbye to the career I fell in love with and no longer spend my days filthy and sweaty building incredible spaces. But I then got to be the creator behind the scenes making those spaces so beautiful. From there my love for design just continued to grow and I expanded from landscapes, to backyard studios, to garden suites, laneway houses and interiors -and here we are now! I am now able to offer a full range of design services and share my love and passion for design with you for all of your needs.

As a mom of a little one (that’s my Little Blue) with a partner running his own business as well, I know first hand how busy life can get and how our homes can easily become more background noise. I am here to take the noise away and help you love your home again.
